Went on a Bieber hunt

Maybe the most amazing thing about my trip the airport last night was not that the flight arrived early, but that the first thing I heard as I walked through the doors was someone asking a youngish girl "Are you here to see Justin Bieber?"

Unfortunately, the airport wasn't overrun with misled Beliebers - that would have been impressive.

Instead, the airport was quite quiet as people waited for two flights (one of which had arrived and people were making their way through customs and the other of which was just about to arrive).

Eventually things picked up a little as Juno drivers arrived to pick up their charges.  Of course even with the Junos signs I was unable to recognize names or faces.

And of course Jeannette's Carly Rae Jepsen lead lead to nothing.  Can't count on her for anything when it comes to celeb spotting.  Jeez.

Going on a Bieber hunt - 4

So, just before her plane took off Jeannette texted me to say that there's someone that looks like Carly Rae Jepsen on her plane - so while I don't really know what this person looks like maybe with Jeannette's help I'll actually manage to have a Juno sighting.

Kind of bummed that if it's going to happen it won't be for Bieber.  It definitely would have been cool to see a flock of Beliebers.

Going on a Bieber hunt - 3

In recently received texts from Jeannette she has confirmed that there are Junos types on her plane.

So it seems that even though I won't be seeing the Biebs I'll have a hard time avoiding at least a few of the Junos crew.  I guess the big question is whether or not I'll ever be able to put names to faces - my guess is not.

Going on a Bieber Hunt (not)

So my worst fears have been confirmed by CBC - Justin Bieber (and his monkey) won't be appearing in Regina for this year's Junos.  Bummer.

Don't worry - I'll still be going celeb spotting at the airport tonight.

Now I'll just have to take photos of everyone and then check my results against Google Images to see if I managed to see anyone famous.

Or maybe I'll just pick up Jeannette and call it a night.

Going on a Bieber hunt - 1

So as some of you may know, this is Junos week in Regina.  I gather that the whole event will be capped off with an awards gala on Sunday night (though, to be perfectly honest, I'm a little fuzzy about the scheduling and am less than motivated to head to their website to figure it all out).

What this means for me and all of my fellow celebrity hunters is that we may get a chance to see Canadian music Royalty in person.  This process may be slightly confounded for me as I don't think that there are too many Canadian music hotshots that I might actually be able to identify, and I suspect that of those that I might be able to identify only a sliver might actually make the trip to Regina.

Though I can't say I've ever really listened to his music, I am pretty sure that I'll be able to recognize J. Bieber - so I'm really hoping that I may get to see him.

Actually, I'm kind of thinking that I may want to ramp my Bieber hunt up by heading to the airport for one of the Toronto flights tonight, you know, to maybe see his monkey in person.  Let's just hope that by being a Belieber I'll ensure that J. Biebs flies commercial rather than charter/privately.

Because Jeannette's coming back from a work trip on what I hope will be J. Biebs flight I'll probably pick her up too.  Do you think that once she lands she'll text me any deets about celebrities on the plane so I can be mentally prepared?

Oh, and can anyone even confirm that Bieber is actually even coming to Regina?  I keep hearing his name mentioned but don't have any real deets.  Anyway, hopefully my trip to the airport won't be for naught.

A Few Quick Notes 422

-Today has been pretty strange. We seem to be going back and forth between periods of showers and sunshine. Fortunately I left the apartment this morning during one of the grey periods so I brought my rain jacket with me. I do hope that we will soon turn the corner and head into at least a few hours of clearer weather.

-Hopefully I will get a chance to play some squash tonight.

-I visited by nearby grocery stores today, my primary objective being the acquisition of on sale meats. At the first grocery store I visited I picked up some boneless, skinless chicken breasts an pork chops. At the second grocery store I bought two packages of pork tenderloin (they were buy one get one free). Hopefully these purchases mean that I won't have to meat shopping for at least a few more days.

-It would seem that after my several week absence from Montifax that I have really rebounded with vigor. Maybe, even with my absence of almost 2 weeks, I will make it to over 20 posts this month. Hooray! What a meaningful accomplishment!

-This afternoon I was a little disgusted to learn that Neil (Rebecca will also be going) is now planning on heading to Winnipeg for a few days. While I am not generally opposed to the idea of Neil going to Winnipeg what I do find frustrating is that this means that Neil will be able to pick off both Saskatchewan and Manitoba in a single trip.

Since about 1995 Neil and I have been deadlocked at 8 provinces apiece (though both of us have been interested in completing the collection). Neil, by visiting Manitoba and Saskatchewan, will throw this equilibrium off. Of course the worst part is that I have no idea how I will go about eventually making my way to either Manitoba or Saskatchewan (particularly as people seem to suggest that they aren't particularly attractive vacation destinations). I guess I will just have to be happy that I have Delaware.

-A few days ago I noticed that one of my sweaters is starting to fray at the cuff.

It seems that in the past few weeks a few pieces of my clothing have started to fall apart. This just seems to confirm that this summer will likely be when I buy a number of items of clothing and engage in something of a wardrobe renewal. Given how much I love clothing shopping this should really be fun.

-Today I noticed the very early stages of another banana pup.

The banana plant has really been doing quite well these past few weeks. Instead of pumping out leaves that are only about two inches long, the leaves currently being produced keep getting larger and larger and are now close to a foot long. It is hard to believe how much the plant's growing patterns have changed in just a few weeks.

-It seems (and appears to be confirmed by a CBC) that one of the professors in the Political Science department, Brian Bow, has won the relatively prestigious and lucrative Donner Prize (a $35 000 prize for books on public policy).

-A few days ago I finally got around to doing my end of semester filing. Part way through the process I felt as though I may have gotten in over my head (or at least that my filing cabinet likely wouldn't be large enough to accommodate everything).

Fortunately my fears were unfounded.

Everything fit nicely (though my filing cabinet is definitely approaching full. I think that I may need to buy another one before September hits.

Awards ceremony: live update 8

Things have now clued up, we will be heading out for a celebratory beer shortly.

Awards ceremony: live update 7

The guest speaker is still talking, though I gather he is now wrapping up.

Awards ceremony: live update 6

Neil just received his award, the hand-off seemed to go pretty well. We are now in the midst of the geust speaker.

Awards ceremony: live update 5

We are in the midst of the award section of the event.

I imagine that Neil's should be coming up soon.

Awards ceremony: live update 4

We are in the midst of a discussion of the undergraduate degree and awards.

We just moved on to the graduate degrees.

Awards ceremony: live update 3

We are still sitting around eating and waiting for things to start. As time has passed things have picked up, most of the tables now have people sitting at them.

Actually things seem a little quiter because people are reading the awards brochure and math department report.

Things just started. The chair is now speaking.

Awards ceremony: live update 2

Bigs news on the food front, almost all of the crackers have some kind of junk on them or in them. The good news is that the cupcakes seem to be pretty good.

Awards ceremony: live update 1

So i am in the math learning centre waiting for the annual math awards ceremony to start. It seems that Neil has been awarded some kind of math award.

At the moment we are just sitting around eating food.

If any thing happens I will let you know.
