For the past few weeks our move to Regina has been on my mind. And today even more so.
Somewhat suddenly a few moments ago I realized that it's been exactly a year since we set out from Ottawa for Regina. I would guess that by this time we were about half-way to North Bay (which is where we spent our first night).
I find this amazing for a number of reasons. First of all, it's hard to believe that we the trip so recently - it seems as though it was a life-time ago. Secondly, it's hard to believe that we've been in Regina for just about a year. In some ways it feels as though we've been here longer than a year, and in others it seems almost incomprehensible that've been here for a year.
If time keeps speeding up as it has over the past few years before I know it we'll have been here for five or ten years (and hopefully by then our garden will actually be producing a reasonable output).

Not even a post a day yet
I just noticed that even though we're in the midst of what could be a hard-fought blog-off, we're not even up to a post a day - I'm sure our devoted reader/s (are there even any left?) expect more of us this late in the game.
I guess I will have to really try to ramp things up over the next few days as by the time the middle of the month rolls around I'll have a long weekend road trip and a move/painting to contend with. And as much as Jeannette completely understands my strange dedication to regularly updating this blog, I'm not sure if she'd be OK with me putting down a box or a paint brush to advance my position in this blog-off.

Why didn't anyone tell me paint is so expensive?
We just returned from our paint selecting excursion.
Not only was colour selection process much harder than I anticipated (mainly because Jeannette vetoed my plan for plain white walls and then also my plan for painting all four walls and the ceiling different colours), but the paint itself was also much more expensive than I anticipated. Of course, it didn't help that I talked myself out of going for the cheapest of the paint lines that the company offered.
Anyway, we're back now and we have two different whites (ceiling and mouldings), a moldy green, a grey, and a light orange. Oh, and also all kinds of painting related equipment like brushes and rollers. At some point in the near future we will have to buy a step ladder.
The worst part of this is that I'm sure that once we're about half way through the job we'll realize that there's something important that we've forgotten (like maybe to buy enough paint) that will cause us to be stalled for some number of hours.
But when I'm not moping about the amount of work this will be and the risk of failure, I'm really quite excited that we'll finally have a place that we can paint and that within about two weeks we'll actually be able to start painting it. The prospect is a little overwhelming.

Paint shopping
It seems that in anticipation of the acquisition of our new house Jeannette and I will be at least spending some portion of the day doing some paint shopping. The hope is that if we can have the paint on hand before we move in we will be able to shorten the downtime in a few rooms associated with re-painting.
Of course, one of the problems with this paint shopping excursion is that it's been a few years since either of us have done any serious painting - so we're a little out of touch with what's hot in paint application techniques and/or high-tech latex paints. And though it doesn't worry me, Jeannette's a little worried about how the whole 'accent wall' thing works.
Anyway, if all goes well by the end of the day we'll have paint and appropriate applicators for three rooms (and we'll have also finalized colour choice for the three rooms we're planning on painting).

Big changes
Sorry for the unusually long radio silence - the past few months (really since July) have been much more intense than usual.
Not only have I been travelling more than usual (two trips to the Maritimes, two trips to the Prairies, and a trip to Chicago/Indianapolis), but I also had the pleasure of getting married to Jeannette (in October) and somewhat suddenly accepting a new job in Regina (which started in early November).
Anyway, all of these things kind of piled up and lead to circumstances in which regular updates to Montifax were not feasible.
Now that you're all sort of caught up maybe I'll try to post a few items about a few of the months that we've all had the pleasure of just living through.

Big changes
About 10 days ago I moved to Ottawa, joining Jeannette about two months into her residency here. The day after I arrived we moved into our new apartment. One of the great things about our apartment is that we are only a short walk away from Parliament.
While it was definitely a bit of a bummer to leave Wolfville, I have been enjoying my time in Ottawa. In addition to getting a rush each time I catch a glimpse of the peace tower flag there are a number of other cool things here that are pretty neat (though we haven't found the time to do too many of them yet).
Instead of focusing touristy stuff I've been trying to get a sense of the neighbourhood (and the fact that the weather's been horrible hasn't made the idea of touring very appealing). Today while I was walking to a prospective laundry site I noticed several piles of move-out related garbage.
One caught my eye as it seemed to have an Ikea table similar to tables I've had in Montreal and Wolfville. Upon closer inspection I learned that not only was the table similar to the tables I've had, but that there was also an unopened Ikea table in the pile. Apparently the former owner bought the table and didn't even ever get around to taking the five minutes required to assemble it. Wow.
Had I not been on my way somewhere I should have made sure that this unopened table was pulled out and visible so that someone could pick it up. It seems an awful was to buy a table and then throw it away without ever even so much as opening it.

A Few Quick Notes 451
-Today, even though we are less than two days away from Earl, was beautiful. Actually, I might go so far as to suggest that it was verging on perfection. The temperature was in the mid-twenties with non-blistering sun and a slight breeze. Now that the sun has set the temperatures have dropped slightly, just enough to merit a jacket if one decided to go on a late night stroll.
-I seem to have managed to temper my Empire Avenue activity, which is a skill that is important considering the onset of the new school year. For better or worse, some acquaintances of mine seem not to have yet developed this skill.
-We made a return trip to the Oaklawn Farm Zoo today. We took this trip so that Rebecca's brother could have a chance to visit the zoo for the first time. I think he, like the rest of us, was quite impressed with what he saw. I know that even though we told him about many of the animals that he could expect to see he still under-estimated the breadth of the zoo's holdings.
[Embedded video]
The gibbons were particularly active today. Jeannette was able to capture some of this activity in the video posted above.
-On a related note, we finally took the time to ask a staff member about the origin story of the zoo's zonkey (donkey-zebra hybrid).

Apparently, as I suspected, the zonkey has a zebra mother and donkey father. Apparently the zebra was impregnated by the donkey, a pygmy donkey, during the brief period of time during which the two types of animals were housed together. They put the donkey in with the zebras because it was a pygmy, and, they thought, not tall enough to mate with the zebras. As it turns out, even a pygmy donkey is tall enough to mate with a zebra. Un/fortunately, this pairing did not result in a pygmy zonkey.
-My friend Peter returned to Halifax today and moved into an apartment a block away from my apartment. I am looking forward to having another friend in the neighbourood.

A Few Quick Notes 448
-Today has been one of the hottest days I have experienced in years, or at least that is how it feels. The temperatures exceeded 30, a situation that was made worse by relatively high humidity. Even when it became a little overcast this afternoon it stayed hot and unpleasant.
-Actually, it is so hot and sticky that as I sit writing this I am dripping sweat, a rather unpleasant image I know (and this is with a fan on). I am a little concerned that the current weather conditions may make sleeping difficult.
-Our apartment's Empire Avenue feeding frenzy has continued, somewhat abated, today.
I should first note, before forgetting, that Neil, Rebecca, Jeannette, and I achieved some success as a result of our actions yesterday. Neil, Rebecca, Jeannette, and I all made the list for participants with the greatest single day value increases (I was 1, Neil was 2, Jeannette was 6, and Rebecca was 8). Rebecca, Jeannette, and I were also near the top of another list of that day's achievers.
Things did slow down a little today. One of the first reasons for the slow down was that I realized that I actually had some work to do and observed that it was not possible for me to play an online game and work at the same time. Neil and Jeannette were later held up by the system itself as they both reached their daily transaction limits and thus had an enforced break.
That being said, today was definitely another heavy Empire Avenue day for our apartment. Actually, we even added a new person to the mix, Nick, Rebecca's brother. Nick signed up for an account today and will be coming to stay with us for a few days as of tomorrow, so if we are lucky we might be able to have five people online and circle buying in the same room (what fun!).
-Wow, it is hot. I really hope it isn't this hot tomorrow as I have agreed to help a few friends move.

A Few Quick Notes 433
-When I woke up this morning I didn't have particularly high hopes for today's weather, but things seem to have turned out nicely. Presently it is quite bright, if not particularly warm or windless.
-As mentioned in the last post, Neil and I helped some friends move on Saturday afternoon. For the most part things went very well. The friends we were helping were very organized and had boxed basically everything that needed to be boxed by the time we got there, allowing us to focus our efforts on lifting and hauling.
That being said, there was one slight problem. The couch that they were moving was quite large and could not be easily brought into the new apartment. We first tried to go through the front door. This was an abysmal failure that at one point caused me to be trapped between the couch and the inside of the front door and for us to put a 1 cm dent in the front hall wall. After what felt like 30 minutes we eventually removed the from the front hall and decided to try going through the side door.
Going in through the side door meant that once the couch was through the first door way we had to spin it in two different directions and then move it in the kitchen. Once we had it in the kitchen we again had to spin it a few times to prepare it to make it through the next to doorways. Unfortunately, part way through the process we also learned that the refrigerator needed to be moved to the other side of the kitchen (the fridge didn't seem to have particularly functional wheels). I would guess that the whole process took the better part of an hour and a half. In many ways, if it hadn't been for this couch it might have seemed that this move was just too easy.
-For quite a number of hours today our neighbours in the apartment directly above us have been making all kinds of banging noises. At first I thought they might be moving something, now, after several hours of a range of noises, I have no idea what is going on. I guess I should be thankful that it isn't another day during which they spend several hours vacuuming.
-I think that we are going to have tacos for dinner tonight and that I am going to make tortillas for the meal. I guess if I want this to happen at any reasonable time I should get started on the food preparation process.

Another move
Already this Spring I have helped two friends move. In just a little while I will be taking part in another move, bring my total for the year up to three. For some strange reason this makes me feel good, though largely because it means that I will be able to tie last year's record.
I am hoping that today's move won't be too bad. So far things are looking pretty good, we will have a truck, so we won't need to cram things in the back of a car, the weather is quite nice, and the couple moving likely don't have too much furniture. As this move likely won't involve pre-move painting and the complete packing of an apartment it will surely be better than a move I assisted with a few years ago (oh, and in that instance I also arranged the van that we used for the move).
I guess I should get going and take care of my final mental preparations.

A Few Quick Notes 423
-After several days of sub-par weather today has been quite beautiful. The skies have been quite clear and the temperature almost perfect (meaning the low to mid twenties). Unfortunately, we seem likely to switch back to somewhat overcast/rainy and cooler weather in the coming days. What a bummer.
-On Friday night Peter and I attended the Old Man Luedecke concert at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium. Unfortunately, as both of us were somewhat tired we managed to sleep through portions of most of the songs in the first half of the show. Fortunately, due to an intermission sugar hit, we were able to wake up for the second half of the show.
-Part of the justification for my renewed absence from the blog this past weekend was that I was helping two friends move. On Friday I helped Peter get his things out of residence. We then stashed quite a number of his belongings in my closet for the summer. On Saturday and Sunday I helped another friend move, a move which first required us to do some shopping and cleaning. Anyway, it was definitely a busy weekend as far as moving was concerned.
-Neil and Rebecca will be returning from their trip to Regina this evening. I am hoping to have the apartment in order and food freshly prepared for their return. Hopefully I don't get too lazy between now and then.
-A few days ago I walked into our laundry room to find one of the components of the coin injection part of washing machine on the floor. It was immediately clear that this washing machine was definitely going to be out of order. Unfortunately, several days have passed and the washing machine is still out of order. Though this wouldn't normally be too much of a problem, not having access to two washing machines has definitely slowed down some of my washing attempts. I really hope that they will get around to having this fixed in the very near future. That the machine is out of commission is particularly frustrating as I know that the washing component of the machine is still fully functional (as I have seen it in use over the past few days).
-After a few weeks of failing to read my newspapers very thoroughly, it has been great to finally get back to my daily newspaper habit. I am hoping that in the coming days I might even be able to catch up on a few unread obituaries that piled up over the past year and a half.

A Few Quick Notes 335
-Today, much to my surprise, has been nicer that I expected. At some point yesterday or the day before the forecast lead me to believe that we would be in for a fair bit of rain today, though it turns out this didn't come to pass.
-I have been quite busy procrastinating these past few days, the result being that I have had no time to blog or work on my thesis. I am hoping that I can put an end to the problem on both fronts this evening.
-As I mentioned last week, we were planning on checking out the Halifax KISS concert. As it turns out, we were able to see basically the entire show from an area behind the fenced enclosure. I am quite confident that Kirsten was glad to have seen the show as she can now report to her classmates that she has seen KISS in concert.
As you can see from this less than stellar photo, we were actually able to see the performers from our vantage point, which likely means that we had a better view than some paying customers.

-We were smoked at last week's Ultimate game, though it was a pleasant game. I am hoping that we do a little better at tomorrow's game.
-Today we went to a going away party for some friends who will soon be moving to Calgary. The party was called a 'Sundae Party,' and people were requested to bring sundae toppings. That the party did not take place on Sunday really confused me for a few days, though by the time we arrived at the party I think I had things sorted out.
On Tuesday Neil and I will be helping load the moving van, which should be fun. I have a strange fascination with assisting people move (though I don't really like doing it myself).
-My tobacco has started to grow. As is relatively obvious, the plants could really do with some thinning. Maybe I will try to get around to this in the coming days.

-I think that there were a few more things I was hoping to say but I can't remember them at the moment and I really need to head back to work, maybe if they come to me later this evening I will try to post again.
-One last thing, a few days ago we were walking around downtown Halifax and Neil spotted Lucy of Trailer Park Boys fame. This means that I have now seen Bubbles, Lahey, and Lucy by just hanging around downtown Halifax. I wonder if I keep at it much longer if I will see any of the other cast members.

A Few Quick Notes 308
-Today has been pretty nice so far, though at various time during the day the forecast was calling for rain. At the moment, it is supposed to be overcast, though the sky seems pretty clear and blue to me. I guess this is what you get if the weather station is at the airport (which is out of town) and you live downtown. Anyway, I guess I shouldn't really be complaining.
-For the most part yesterday was beautiful, which made the thunder, lightening, and rain that appeared suddenly last night all the more surprising. At first Neil and I weren't sure if the flash was saw was a large camera flash, or lightening. The thunder clap several seconds later confirmed our suspicion that it was lightening. A few minutes later we had a little rain.
-Yesterday Neil and I helped a friend of mine move from our neighbourhood to the north end. Aside from the fact that the apartment we were moving out of was on the third floor of a building without elevators, and that the apartment we were moving into was on the second floor of a house, the move was relatively smooth and painless. Unlike other friends I have helped move, this couple had basically everything ready to go when Neil and I showed up. All we had to do was move the large items from the apartment to the truck, and then from the truck to the apartment.
When we had finished unloading the truck and were ready to return it we found that it would not start, even with the assistance of jumper cables and another truck's battery. The upside of this was that the rental company sent a tow-truck and eventually ended up towing the truck. Not only did this save everyone on our side of things a fair bit of time, they should also have a significantly lower rental bill (if they even have a rental bill).
-I decided to make another batch of bread today. At the moment it is in the fridge rising. I need things to slow down so that I won't need to bake it until after dinner.
-We will be having pot roast (beef) for dinner tonight. It turns out that the cut of meat that I bought yesterday is much bigger than I thought it was, which is great

Halifax Apartment Update 1
When I arrived in Halifax several days ago I was pleased to learn that the apartment was as prepared and stocked as I had lead to believe. With only a little work I was able to ready my room for my arrival. This mostly entailed unpacking some of my things that had already arrived as well as moving a few things that Neil and Rebecca had been storing in my room.
The largest single project was the re-assembling of my Ikea shelving unit. Prior to my arrival Neil and Rebecca aborted an assembly attempt after two of the parts self-destructed and the rest of the unit lost its structural rigidity. Fortunately to get the shelf up and running all we need to do was square it in a corner, add some included cross braces, fix the location of one of the bolt-screws, and tighten the bolt-screws. In all I think it only took us about 20 minutes to get everything in order. Since that time I have been able to move the unit into my room and start stocking it with my clothing and belongings. I am even thinking about installing a bottle opener on the front, though this would really only be because I don't have anywhere else for the bottle opener.
Since my arrival we have acquired a few things for my room and for the apartment in general. Fortunately these purchases have been limited and largely only from one or two stores.
One of the first purchases was a pillow, which we found in the grocery store on my first night here. So far I am quite pleased with my $5.00 pillow, it seems to be getting the job done (and is certainly doing a better job that my makeshift bed).
Eventually we made our way over to the near-by hardware/house-ware/automotive store and picked up a shelving unit, a rug, a lamp, and some plant related supplies.
We have since used the shelf as a plant storage facility, and it seems to be doing a passable job so far. We have since returned to the store to buy two more such shelves to use as storage facilities for the other plants. One benefit of these units is that they are stackable, meaning that we can use them to take advantage of the light from the living room window more effectively than if we had only short shelves or tables.
The rug and the plant supplies seem to be working, though their value will really become apparent in the longer term rather than immediately. Who can really see plant food working in a day or so? Also, the benefit of standing on a rug while washing dishes likely builds up over time and isn't particularly apparent in the short term.
The lamp has been the most problematic of the purchases. Not only was the above sink installation a little cumbersome, the item seemed to crap out after only about 20 minutes of use. This meant that today we had to make a trip back to the store to exchange the item for a replacement. Sadly, within about twenty minutes of use the new lamp also crapped out (though not before becoming worryingly hot). Hopefully we will find the time to head back to the store tomorrow to get our money back (though I imagine that things will be a bit more complicated as it will be the second iteration).
Hopefully, aside from a bed, I won't have to buy too many more things for the apartment. If this is the case, and I don't need to buy too much more, maybe it will finally feel as though I have stopped bleeding money.

On the ground in Halifax
Though one may not have been able to tell based on Montifax related activity, I have arrived safely in Halifax. Amazingly, I managed to travel on a beautiful day and make it to downtown Halifax just a few hours after leaving St. John's.
So far things have been going well with Neil and Rebecca and the new apartment. Aside from acquiring apartment related things and some food I have been making an attempt to get to know Halifax. This venture was aided by my meet up with Jess, a Nova Scotian friend of mine from Thomson House. Jess and I were able to walk around the downtown area and then take the ferry over to Dartmouth.
Anyway, I should have more time to keep Montifax updated in the coming days. Such updates will be much easier once I have a desk, which could actually arrive as early as this evening.

I guess I should start preparing for this move
In the past few days it has finally hit me that in the very near future I will be moving to Halifax. More importantly, I have finally started to realize that I really need to start preparing for this move. In particular this means gathering the items I am hoping to move as well as acquiring those items that I need to acquire before I move.
Fortunately, starting some number of months ago, I set aside a shelf in a closet for things that I am hoping to have in Halifax. So far this shelf has accumulated a few books, some clothing, and a few kitchen related odds and ends. Unfortunately, most of the things that I will eventually pack are not anywhere near this shelf and are more likely scattered around my room or the rest of the house.
Even more problematic than the fact that my belongings are all over the place is that I no longer recall exactly what it is that I already have in Halifax. Though even if I did have a complete list of my belongings that are in Halifax I know that I would still be likely to take too many things with me. (Part of this is because I always like to have back up items, just in case I am in a situation where I can't use the item that I would normally want to use).
On the more pro-active side of things, I actually managed to make it to a store today and buy a few packages of seeds for plants that I hope to grow while I am in Halifax. While some of the seeds are admittedly foolhardy, I think that I will at least have fun with the attempts.
The six types of seeds I purchased are:
Beets - Detroit Dark Red - While I don't know that I have had beets in the past 15 years I was thinking that I would try to grow a few and then make borscht. Fortunately I should have between 50-60 days from the time of planting to actually have to figure out what it is I might want to use the beets in.
Beans - Improved Golden Wax - I think these were a good choice because I know that I really like yellow beans and I know that it is possible to grow beans inside in less than ideal sun conditions. As with all of the plants, I see space being a particular problem as I will likely need a number of pots to grow more than a handful of plants.
Corn - Early Golden Bantam - This is clearly the seed that is most unlikely to succeed of those that I purchased today. While I know that this is a long shot under the best of circumstances I am somewhat hopeful only because I witnessed the relatively remarkable growth of some corn at one of my house-sitting houses this summer. While the corn was certainly behind schedule and likely to never produce an edible ear of corn it was nonetheless a clearly identifiable corn plant, which is about all I might be able to hope for with my seed packet.
Dill - Anethum graveolens - This is something that I think might actually grow well and require only small to moderately sized pots. So I guess this means I think that this is a safer bet than some of the other seed choices I made, and of course some success would be nice. Furthermore, I think that I will actually be able to use dill, though it isn't my favourite herb.
Thyme - thymus vulgaris - This is a plant that I know can do quite well in a pot inside, and I am relatively certain that it should even be able to handle the smaller amounts of sun that it will receive in the winter. This one, like the dill, would be in the safer bet category.
Radishes - Cherry Belle - I purchased these because I am a big fan of radishes and it would seem that they are only supposed to take about three weeks to reach maturity. This means that I might even be able to grow these on the balcony before the cold weather sets in, though this might be wishful thinking.
Peppers - Yellow Hot Wax - This purchase was made with Neil in mind as I know that he is a fan of hot peppers (or at least he was in his youth). A further consideration is that I was able to germinate pepper seeds in Montreal indoors in the spring under less than ideal conditions. Presumably these will be as allow growing as the bell peppers that I planted in Montreal, meaning that I shouldn't even hope to have anything before Christmas.
I have also made plans to take clippings from a few of my mother's plants just before I leave. I am particularly looking forward to growing a succulent plant that has green rain-drop like leaves on branches that gracefully hang from the side of the plant's pot (assuming that the plant is large enough to extend beyond the sides of the pot). More recently I have been looking forward to taking a papyrus clipping, though my excitement has been somewhat tempered by my relative lack of success when it came to making papyrus from the shoots of this plant earlier this summer.
Of course none of these seeds or plants will work if I don't manage to acquire pots and potting soil, something I haven't yet arranged with Neil or Rebecca. Another concern might be my desire to fill the apartment with an unmanageable number of pots and planters, something else that I have not really discussed with Neil or Rebecca.

A Few Quick Notes 192
-Today has been another nice day. Amazingly, the higher temperatures did not make my walk to work particularly unpleasant.
-While yesterday was both Memorial Day (until noon, and in Newfoundland and Labrador only) and Canada Day I didn't participate in any of the available activities. Instead of an active member of the community I stayed at home and kept to myself, and eventually got around to chopping up several pounds worth of vegetables.
-The celery that I am eating right now is not particularly good. Neither the flavour or texture meet my exacting standards.
-Instead of book marking or remembering the URL for the Amicus, each day I go to Google and search for it.
When I first started doing this some number of years ago I learned that the first hit was actually for a union in the UK, rather than the Canadian union catalogue. Eventually I trained myself to go to the correct link (though it took a fair bit of time).
At some point in time, though I don't really know when, this union was dropped to a lower position by Google.
Just today I unfortunately found that the union has once again been returned to the prime position for the 'Amicus' search. Maybe I will have to try and post the link in a few places to get my preferred Amicus back in the prime spot.
-In the coming days Neil will be moving to a new apartment. This is particularly important to me because as of late August this will be my new apartment. Hopefully the move will go well and the transition to the new apartment will be smooth and painless.
As I was able to send many of my goods to Halifax when I left Montreal many of my belongings will be in the apartment when I arrive. Furthermore, the plan is to have Neil and Rebecca unpack all of the communal type objects and put them away, thus preventing a major re-arrangement of items once I arrive.
-Will I get my diploma? This is something that I have been wondering about since I missed my graduation ceremony about a month ago. I would have thought that McGill would have just mailed it to me, but I guess that hasn't happened yet. Maybe if I don't see any action on this front I will have to look into the matter.

What's up with me
So it's been a while since I've posted. I'll start off with a quick summary of my last couple months.
In October, I got home safely from my trip to Georgia for the INTEGERS conference. November must have been pretty uneventful, because I don't remember it. Christmas was a little lame, haha, but good. In January I went to a conference in Banff. The conference was in my research area, Combinatorial Game Theory, and I was happy to meet Elwyn Berlekamp and Richard Guy among others. After the conference I spent a couple days in Calgary with friends (who shall remain nameless as per Cameron's convention). Then I spent about 24 hours in/going to/coming from airports, finally arriving back in Halifax. In February, March and April I was mostly doing schoolwork. However, in that time I attended talks given by Gwynne Dyer, Preston Manning and Art Benjamin (a mathemagician). Also, I went to the East Coast Combinatorics Conference (ECCCCCCCC) in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. In May, Rebecca and I found a place for the three of us to live in September. Subsequently our living room was filled with boxes shipped on Montreal.
Next week, Kirsten comes for a visit and we're moving.
Today, Rebecca's father arrives. He drove here via the Port-aux-Basques ferry. Also, I have a ultimate (frisbee) game today. I joined a team that played last year and has a couple of my friends on it. Today will be our third game. Our record so far is 1-1. Fortunately all our games so far have been at 'The Commons', which is within walking distance. Unfortunately next week's game is much further away, and thus I'll have a bum a ride with someone.
I'll finish'er off with a quick weather report. It is sunny, and the internet says it is warm. Our apartment is quite cool became the hasn't been hitting our side of the building for very long, and not much other than direct sunlight warms us up at 27 floors.

A Few Quick Notes 184
-Though today was forecast to be a nice day, things don't seem to have worked out like that. Instead of the predicted clear skies and temperatures in the mid-teens we seem to have overcast skies with temperatures holding steady near 10 degrees. Furthermore, the forecast has now gone from including some sun in the 5 day forecast to now a copy/paste approach of just predicting rain/fog for the next five days.
-I had a pretty large lunch today. Along with my roast beef sandwich I had two lamb chops, two carrots, and half of an orange pepper.
-Amazingly I am already sending things to Halifax for the Fall. Rebecca's father will be transporting a few boxes to Halifax for me. Hopefully such planning will mean that I won't have all that much to pack when I eventually get around to moving myself there at the end of the summer.
-We managed to pull off another win at tonight's ultimate game. As with the past two games, playing against relatively new teams has been helpful. The plan is to get a practice in before next week's game, something that I think will be useful.
-For the first time I was able to legitimately use the subclass VD (Naval seamen). As petty a joke as it is, I was quite pleased to have actually come across a book that topic that I was allowed to catalogue. If my luck keeps up, maybe I will eventually get to put a Bible in the BS section.
-Last night, while heading into a bar, I was IDed. This shocked me as the person I was walking in with is exactly 3 months older and was not IDed. Furthermore, that they are IDing me suggests that I look as though I am no older than 18, which is something that I find hard to believe. Also, how many eighteen year-olds go out on a Wednesday night at a non-happening bar with someone who looks so much older?
Anyway, I guess it isn't that big a deal, but for some reason it really gets to me.

A Few Quick Notes 164
-Today was a beautiful day, the first in a while. The weather was quite warm, certainly warmer than reported by Environment Canada, and the sun was out, making it a nice day for walking and being outdoors. As the night progresses, the temperature has begun to drop, a somewhat common trend.
-With two more loses today I am now 8/38 with this year's Roll Up the Rim contest. My attempts to pick up my game have clearly failed. Maybe if I try hard I will be able to improve tomorrow.
-As my milk was about to go I decided to bake some bread today. This seemed to go relatively well. As I was doing laundry at the same time I didn't really waste too much time.
-My laundry washing was also quite productive. Though I am beginning to become somewhat frustrated that each time I wash my duvet cover items seem to migrate inside, and then don't dry properly.
-As term will be ending in a few weeks I need to start thinking about moving. Unfortunately, it seems that this is going to be a somewhat unpleasant process, particularly as I will likely be forced to leave things in Montreal and then re-buy equivalents where ever I end up next year. I guess it really isn't worth moving crap half-way across the country though.
-For some reason my library use seems to be way up this term. Particularly my checking out of monographs seems to be way up. I would guess that I have checked out more books this term alone than in the three previous terms combined.
-It seems that Sunday is now my big podcast day. Both Jordan, Jesse, Go! and This American Life Tend to release new episodes at around the same time on Sunday evening. The downside is that most new podcast content is consumed withing about a four hour period. Maybe I will try subscribing to a few additional podcasts to fill the void.
