-Today was a pretty functional day in St. John’s. While it was overcast all day, the temperature was in the 20 degree range, and the wind died down in the afternoon. While I kept expecting rain, it did not come. Hopefully the trend will remain the same or improve tomorrow.
-As today was quite reasonable I was able to break out my unicycle and go for a ride. My main ride of the day was about 1.5 km. Later in the day I likely went on a 1 km ride. Hopefully in the next few days I will extend the range of my rides. 3 km shouldn’t really be that much of a problem, though it is a different than biking as you are peddling constantly.
Aside from just riding forwards, I also worked on my ability to idle and ride backwards. Unfortunately, I did not see too much improvement in either of these skills. In both instances I was only able to do either of the skills for a few seconds, and with little consistency.
-Yesterday while downtown buying fair trade coffee I decided to check out the price of herbal tea. It seems that Celestial Seasonings tea is at least $1.00 and may be as much as $1.70 more. I knew I was being ripped off here, but I didn’t know that it was by at least 20%.

Montreal Sign-off
As I write this I am sitting in my packed up room. My books are no longer on my bookshelf, my clothes are no longer in the closet, though my computer still is on my desk.
As usual, I seem to have ended up packing much more stuff that I can possibly need. Amazingly, I don’t quite understand what it is that is taking up so much stuff. Well that is not completely true, my steel toed books, three pairs of shoes, and unicycle are doing a pretty good job of killing luggage space. In particular the unicycle is taking up a fair bit of space.
Actually just yesterday I came to the realization that I likely won’t be bringing my unicycle back with me when I return to Montreal in the fall. If next year is anything like this past year, I won’t have the time or space to ride. This spring being pretty wet and snowy compounded the problems of the fall, resulting in only one ride. The wheel also takes a fair bit of luggage space.
Well I guess I should get back to tidying things up and preparing to go.

A Few Quick Notes 85
-Today was another beautiful day in Montreal. Though the morning was on the chilly side, it was quite comfortable by sundown. It was nice enough that I was able to ride both my bike and my unicycle. Hopefully this type of weather will keep up throughout the week.
-As mentioned above, I was able to crack out my unicycle for the first time this year. Most of my riding was done at McGill. A few days ago I found a good, out of the way spot that allows me to practice without torment (at least so far). I keep wondering why I haven’t seen more unicycles around McGill.
-This afternoon I had the pleasure of heading out on an errand for a friend. She is interested in be buying two mohair shawls for her before my return to Newfoundland. To make it to the store I rode my bike, which is no longer a peggle bike. Without too much trouble I found the store as well as the desired items. The staff was friendly and helpful. Early next week I will have to go back and pick the goods up.
On my way to my final destination I stopped at La Vielle Europe, a cool store on St. Laurent, and picked up some discount herbal tea.
-For dinner tonight I cooked myself a huge batch of sausage soup. I don’t know why I can’ cook reasonable amounts of food for myself.
-When I went to Tim Horton’s today I did not receive a Roll Up the Rim cup, meaning that my record for the year of 3/33 will stand. This is a disappointing record as I am below the advertised win rate, though I must admit it is pretty lose.
-I have to work tomorrow night and Saturday night. Tomorrow night is a swing night in the ballroom, though I don’t exactly know what that entails. On Saturday night there is some kind of private party.
-Over the past few days I have been eating a huge quantity of raw vegetables, typically in the form of leaf free salads.
